Alternatively the same item could have been modified in the query's view results or using the Item Properties dialog.

Along with the main attributes; ID, Name, Group, Key, Description, Comment there are categories assignable to each item type.

Different categories can be assigned to each item type, these are used to query and sort your database items. Categories can be free form text, pick-lists of values you defined in the project schema or abstract data type including date, time, real, and integers.

Categories can also hold multiple values at the same time, for example a category called composition may contain a pick list of steel, glass, aluminium, brass. The item's category can be set to hold one or more of these elements depending upon what it will be manufactured from.

Frames are used to hold large amounts of data, in the example below requirement 1.7 is shown in a form with the details shown in a text area. The details can be directly edited here and the item saved. In the bottom pane the same item has been opened, but the text area has been toggled to full pane size to aid editing. This is a function of the text frame and does not need an alteration to the form.

In Windows versions of the product we also support rich text frames within the item:

Images can be included in an item's frame. These are then shown in the views or as thumbnails on a form. Images can be viewed or edited in any selected graphic package supporting GIF or JPEG formats.

Frames can also hold reference to external documents. If a company standard exists on an intranet, you can choose to hold a copy stored in the Cradle database for that project, or just to store the reference. The choice will depend if you want to snapshot the document for Configuration Management purposes, or always reference the latest copy you company has. These references may also be URLs to web pages launching a browser when you choose to view the entry.

Baselines can be thought of as a holding area for information owned by the project. You can browse historic baselines.

This provides visibility of baselined data (particularly cross references) so you can see the state of the project as it was when it was baselined.
