Step Two

Capture Requirements from a Microsoft® Word® document using Document Loader.

Open the following Microsoft® Word® document:

Car Park Requirements (for Document Loader)

To view the document view of the captured document click on the : button.

From here you can explore the hierarchy. if you click on any node in the left column, the associated section of the document becomes highlighted in the document view. Have a look and a play.

This allows you to check in the document which items to capture into your Cradle database.

To capture items you must tick the boxes (by clicking in them) to select them.

Or to select everything for capture click this button:Tick all nodes icon to tick all nodes.

Then when you are ready to capture your document into Cradle, click this button: Capture into Cradle icon

This brings up the Capture Document dialog:

Fill in the fields as above and click on the Capture button.

You will see Document loader parse the word document into Cradle and then present you with a Capture Results dialog.

You have now captured the requirements into your Cradle® Project. Document Loader has already created the hierarchy from the layout of the document.

You can now open WorkBench to see the captured requirements.

Steps:

  1. Create a project using the Project Manager Done
  2. Capture requirements from a Microsoft® Word® document
using Document Loader. You Are Here..
  3. Import diagrams in WorkBench
  4. Manually link requirements to functions
  5. Produce matrix from requirements to functions
  6. Produce matrix from functions to architecture
  7. Create User Requirement Document in Publisher.
  8. Produce a final document showing links from requirements to functions, links from functions to architecture and transient links from requirements to architecture and the final specifications.
