Evaluation Start-Up

Document Publisher is a module that allows you to generate Word® Documents automatically from data stored in the Cradle Database the output of which will be based upon stored templates.

You can start Document Publisher from your start up menu. When you have logged in (Username, Password, Project Code) you are presented with the following screen:

Generate Output

This is the screen that generates the documents based on existing templates. To publish a document based on an existing document template, Click 'Select'

and then select the location of the template, then template to be used:

Then in the 'Output Document' field, select a location and a name for the document, then click on the 'Publish' Button.

The next steps create a demonstration template that shall publish a document that shows all the requirements in a project that are owned by you.

From the first screen select the 'Define Template tags' tab. This will change the interface to show you the following screen:

Click on the 'New' button. This will open Microsoft® Word® and you will also see the following:

Click yes. and the following toolbar appears also:

Click on 'Create Tag'

Select 'Paragraph group' and 'OK':

Click on the Single Item type radio button and select Requirements from the Item drop down. Click the add button and highlight requirements in the hierarchy of Item Types selection box:

To select all requirements put an asterisk * in the Item Identifier field. select 'Yours' from the Item Ownership drop down list.

Click Save Tag Definition

Click Save Template and give the template a name and location you will recognise when you are to publish your finished document.

Microsoft word will then have a Cradle tag and some code as follows:

Select the Close button on the Tag Definition dialogue:

From the Cradle Document Publisher main screen select the Generate Document and click on Select by the Document Template field, select the template you have just created

Generate Output

Select a location to publish to and click on Publish.

Document Publisher then generates the document based on the template you created.
