Cradle Components

Cradle supports the full development lifecycle through the use of different interfaces. Some of these interfaces support many Cradle modules, and some of them are a Cradle module in their own right. These interfaces are Components within the Cradle family.

These Components are:

• WEBA
• Document Publisher
• Document Loader

In the table above, you can see that some modules tasks can be performed by more than one component For example, you can create and manage all your Metrics in Toolset, or WorkBench, or Web Access. You will only need a MET licence for WorkBench or WEBA if you use metric in those components.

Note* the PDM Module is the Cradle Backbone and is used by all components

= Read only access to data. Models/diagrams can be viewed but not edited

WorkBench is a module in its own right, but it also may utilise many of the modules that Toolset has and they are presented in a clearer and easier to understand interface. This Component is designed for team managers and Project managers to use. It has been created with the understanding that the information that they need has to be easier to access and the modules which WorkBench uses reflect this.

Toolset comprises the most modules and is the backbone of Cradle. Most tasks can be performed by toolset and it is the Project Data Module that resides within.

Toolset is used for Project Administration (though WorkBench and WEBA also can perform many admin tasks), Requirements management, Document registration, Systems Modelling, Systems Engineering, Code Generation, Configuration Management, Perfomance Modelling as well as other tasks that can also be performed by other components.

Toolset is the tool component for the dedicated, serious engineer, with a complex interface, but the most flexible and capable of tool functions.

Toolset and WorkBench and Web Access can all perform administration tasks, manage create, ammend delete and manage relationships between items of data and output that data in a variety of ways.

Web Access. The WEBA module is a component that is also a module in it's own right. The web access component allows distributed teams to collaberate on the same project at the same time using only a web browser to access the tool.

Web Access allows the project manager to administer the project from remote locations via a secure login. WEBA now allows https access control to encrypt data traveling over the internet.

Document Loader is a component used for loading raw data in Microsoft Word format into the Cradle Database. It can rapidly load and register your source documents into the database allowing that data to be monitored, traced and controlled throughout the project lifecycle. This is an exciting new addition to the Cradle suite of tools that will be available From Cradle 5.4. onwards

Document Publisher is a component that is used to rapidly generate complex documents including tables, matrices, diagrams, images, nested information, from the data stored in the Cradle Database. This is invaluable for producing up to the minute status reports, end of phase review documents or any other project based documentation you can think of.

With Document Publisher, you simply open the pre-prepared Microsoft^® Word^® template and the Document publisher component quickly generates the complete document by drawing data straight from the Cradle database on the fly, formating and inserting tables, matrices, images or any other data to create a finished formatted document ready to submit for review.

Document loader does not require a seperate licence
