Cradle Modules

Cradle-PDM

Project Data Module
(free of charge)

This is the heart of your Cradle system and the PDM comprises:

  1. Cradle Database Server
  2. User-defined project schema (database structure)
  3. User-defined user accounts and team hierarchy
  4. User-defined access control system, including optional security controls
  5. User-defined process hierarchy to bypass the default UIs so Cradle will speak your language rather than users having to speak Cradle language, reducing training time - for web-based and non-web-based tools
  6. Configuration Management System
  7. User-defined cross referencing, link types, link groups, link rules, etc.
  8. Document Loader tool to capture text, figures, tables etc. from Word documents, and link the captured items to the Word documents, and detect differences in versions of Word documents
  9. Plug-ins for Word and Excel to capture information
  10. Data migration from tools such as DOORS, Teamwork, BPWin, Select, CORE
  11. Import/export facilities, including Cradle format, CSV, XMI and AP233
  12. External Command Interface for connection to other tools
  13. User-defined Hierarchy Diagrams (HIDs), graphical views of the items in the database and the links between them
  14. Generic manipulation or viewing of data
  15. Multiple display panes, each with multiple items or queries
  16. Saved sessions
  17. User-defined queries
  18. User-defined views, including tables, nested tables and matrices
  19. User-defined table, document, list and matrix presentation styles
  20. Drag-and-drop cross referencing
  21. User-defined forms and data layouts
  22. Table-based editing of information
  23. Infinite undo-redo stacks
  24. Change and edit history manipulation
  25. Displays of suspect items - helps with impact analyses and change propagation
  26. Export of views to Word, Excel, web pages, CSV files

Cradle-REQ - Requirements Management

Builds upon the facilities provided by the free-of-charge PDM module to provide:

  1. Create and manage any number of requirement types, optionally in user-defined hierarchies and graphs
  2. Create and manage any number of attributes of up to 1 TByte with any type of data
  3. Arbitrarily group and sub-group requirements
  4. Reorder requirement hierarchies
  5. Merge and split requirements
  6. Create and manage verifications, test cases, test results, SBS, PBS, CBS and WBS data and link to requirements and all other information types
  7. Arbitrarily-many user defined item types ('things' or 'classes' of information in the database)

Cradle-MET - Metrics

Builds upon the facilities provided by the free-of-charge PDM module to provide:

  1. Create and run user-defined metrics
  2. Variety of calculations provided, including totalling attributes' values, such as weight, cost, time, power consumption
  3. Output to Word, Excel, CSV, web pages

Cradle-DOC - Document Generation

Builds upon the facilities provided by the free-of-charge PDM module to provide:

  1. Generate output Word documents using user-defined templates
  2. Documents can be generated from process hierarchy
  3. Provides full documents, Tables of Contents, Lists of Figures, embedded tables and models and graphics and web UIs

Cradle-SYS - System Modelling

Builds upon the facilities provided by the free-of-charge PDM module to provide:

  1. Build analysis, design and architecture models
  2. Variety of modelling notations, including UML
  3. Syntax checking editors
  4. Full consistency checking and balancing tools
  5. Animation and comparison tools for some notations
  6. Models linked into all other information for full lifecycle traceability, can be fully reported in documents and are supported in metrics and CMS

Cradle-SWE - Software Engineering

Builds upon the facilities provided by the free-of-charge PDM module to provide:

  1. Reverse engineering of C, Ada and Pascal into models (STC diagrams, data definitions and module specifications)
  2. Code generation of C, Ada and Pascal from models (STC diagrams, data definitions and module specifications)

Cradle-WEBA - Web Access

Builds upon the facilities provided by the free-of-charge PDM module to provide:

  1. Read-write access to Cradle databases from user-defined web UIs, or from any of the web UIs that 3SL provides
  2. Set of 'building blocks' to allow user-defined web UIs to be created
  3. Projects can define 'user types', each user type can have own style of web UI so different users in a project can see a web UI tailored to their specific needs
  4. Full database access through web UI, including cross references
  5. Zero thickness web UI, no web client to download / update

Cradle-WEBP - Web Publisher

Builds upon the facilities provided by the free-of-charge PDM module to provide:

  1. Publish some or all of a database into a static, hyperlinked, website
  2. One page for each item in the database being published, hyperlinked to all of the items to which it is linked in the database
  3. Layout of web pages are user-definable
  4. Multiple 'themes' supplied by 3SL

Cradle-PERF - Performance Modelling

Builds upon the facilities provided by the free-of-charge PDM module to provide:

  1. Perform user-defined analyses of high-level design models. This is not simulation. It is a quantitative technique that can be applied to high level designs, and can be used before simulation becomes possible.
  2. Performance analyses dependent on model topology, change topology and performance characteristics change
  3. Manage multiple environmental loadings
  4. Analysis results stored in database
  5. User-defined soft and hard limits on performance parameters, are highlighted in analysis results
  6. Results as graphs, CSV exports (for external analyses) and reports
