Two new integrity checks have been added to the Cross Reference Integrity dialogue accessed by selecting Admin ® Utilities ® Cross Reference Integrity... in Toolset:
The new checks, and their details are:
Duplicate cross references (A-B and B-A). Detects pairs of cross references between the same items, the first from one item to a second item and the other cross reference from the second item to the first item. In general, you would export such cross references, delete them from the database, edit them in the external export file (usually through Excel) and re-import the cross references that you want to keep.
Reversed hierarchical cross references. Detects cross references that are between items where the from item has an identity that suggests it to be the child of the to item. For example, a cross reference that is from an item 1.2.3 to an item 1.2. The usual action is to fix the cross references which will reverse them.
These new checks are applied before all invalid cross reference checks. This is so you can address these issues first and then decide whether cross references that are reported as invalid (based on the project’s link rules) are truly invalid, or whether the link rules need to be changed.
