If you expect to perform a particular import regularly, then you can save the setup of the import in an import format. Import formats are a type of definition, like queries, views, forms and so on. You save an import format by selecting Save Format… in the Import Information dialog:
and specify a name and a scope:
If you want to save an import format for a CSV import, then you must perform the CSV import first (so that the CSV file fields to item attribute mapping can be defined) and then save the import format, so that the import format will contain this mapping.
You can load a previously-saved import format by clicking Import Format… in the Import Information dialog and then choosing the desired import format from the resulting list:
Import formats can also be specified to the c_io command-line import and export utility, so that once an import has been defined through the Cradle UI, it can be run from the command line, for example as part of an automatic update process in a UNIX/Linux cron job or a Windows scheduled task.
Import formats can be defined for all types of import, not just for importing CSV files.
