On 8 th June 2009 Microsoft released hotfix KB969604 for Office 2007. As you may have read elsewhere, this hotfix creates a serious bug in Word 2007 that causes document variables to become corrupted. This Microsoft bug seriously affects Cradle Document Loader so that the user now sees an error message when loading a session or comparing a new document version:

This Microsoft bug affects Cradle’s Document Loader and Document Publisher tools; it does not affect the Cradle Spellchecker.

This Microsoft bug will affect all versions of Cradle, it is not limited to the latest Cradle-6.1 release, but will affect Cradle-6.0, Cradle-5.7 and previous Cradle releases as well.

Essentially, as it affects Word 2007, it will affect all Cradle users who have Word 2007 with this hotfix installed.

The short-term solution is to uninstall the hotfix from Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs and show updates. For details on the fix for this serious problem, please refer to the Microsoft on-line support site by clicking here. Microsoft released a fix for the bug on 21 st July 2009.
