Comparing Items

WorkBench provides a facility to compare a work-in-progress (non-baselined) instance of an item against the latest baselined instance of the same item from the Compare with Baselined options in the Item pulldown menu and right click popup menu.

The same comparison mechanism is available for any two items of the same type through new Compare Selected Items options in the Item pulldown menu and right click popup menu. The differences between these items are shown in the Item Differences dialogue:

This new facility is useful when comparing items that are suspected to be similar, potentially to then merge the items together, or to compare items that have a common ancestor, such as separate requirements for alternative variants of a product.
