Metrics in WorkBench

Cradle includes a metrics module that allows metrics to be defined and run. The Cradle-MET licence is needed to define and save metrics. This licence is not needed to run a metric. Prior to Cradle-5.6, metrics could only be defined in Toolset, but could be run from:

• Toolset
• The project-defined phase hierarchy in Toolset
• The project-defined phase hierarchy in WorkBench
• Custom web UIs provided by the Cradle Web Access facility
• The project-defined phase hierarchy that can be included in custom web UIs

Metrics can be defined and saved from WorkBench, which requires a Cradle-MET licence.

The Metrics tool is opened by selecting Metric Details in the Window pulldown menu:

An existing metric can be loaded from the Metric listbox at the top of the dialogue, which displays the metric in the Definition tab. Elements of the metric can be selected, added, deleted, copied and reordered using the Add, Copy and other buttons to the right of the list of elements.

Once a metric has been created or modified:

• Selecting Run will run the metric generating output as specified in the Output Info section of the Metric Details dialogue
• Selecting Save or Save As allows the metric definition to be saved with a user-defined name and any of the scopes (Personal, User, User Type, Team or Project) that are available to the user based on the privileges in his/her user profile
• Selecting Delete will delete the metric’s definition from the database
