They are supported for <em>Identity, Name, Key, Level<\/em> and<em> free-format categories<\/em> (including picklists).<\/p>\n<p>You are prompted for values when the query is run from the following places:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Query Details dialog<\/li>\n<li>Definitions sidebar<\/li>\n<li>Phase tree<\/li>\n<li>As part of a report<\/li>\n<li>When performing an export by query<\/li>\n<li>A start page<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From the <em>Query<\/em> dialog press the arrow button next to the field you want to set the prompt for and select &#8220;<em>Choose at Runtime<\/em>&#8220;. This produces the &#8220;<em>Runtime Parameter Definition<\/em>&#8221; dialog where you can setup the parametric query prompt:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1310\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1310\" style=\"width: 258px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1310\" src=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/runtime_parameter_definition.png\" alt=\"Screenshot to show prompt when running parametric queries\" width=\"258\" height=\"142\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1310\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Prompt shown when running parametric queries<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>You can also specify more than one parametric in the query dialog. This can prove very useful in simplifying the interaction in not having to use the full query details window.<\/p>\n<p>When you run a parametric query the prompt will be shown.
