It does not need to be installed on any machines were <em>Cradle<\/em> clients are installed.<\/p>\n<p>Security Codes are in the file:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><samp>$CRADLEHOME\\.c_config<\/samp> &#8211; Linux<\/li>\n<li><samp>%CRADLEHOME%\\c_config.dat<\/samp> <small>(usually c:\\Program Files\\Cradle\\c_config.dat)<\/small> &#8211; Windows<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WARNING: Please be careful NOT to change any part of this file! If you do, you can easily prevent your Cradle system from working!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Security Code<\/em> contains the <em>Cradle<\/em> system&#8217;s serial number that identifies the <em>Cradle system<\/em>, and provides some basic information about it. The composition of the serial number is:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1890\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1890\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1890\" src=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/security_code_structure-300x122.png\" alt=\"Security Code Structure\" width=\"300\" height=\"122\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/security_code_structure-300x122.png 300w, https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/security_code_structure.png 744w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1890\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Composition of Security Code<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The <em>serial number<\/em> contains the system <em>sequence number<\/em> that is the unique identifier of the <em>Cradle system<\/em>. The <em>serial number<\/em> itself may change if, for example, you purchase additional licences to increase the number of simultaneous users that the system will support, but the <em>system sequence number<\/em> within the <em>serial number<\/em> will remain unchanged.<\/p>\n<p>To obtain the <em>serial number<\/em> of your<em> Cradle system<\/em> (on Linux) at any time, enter the following command:<br \/>\n<samp>c_serial<\/samp><\/p>\n<h2>Installing Security Codes on Windows<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Shut down all <em>Cradle<\/em> tools and servers<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Cradle Utilities<\/strong> &gt; <strong>New Security Code<\/strong> from the Windows <strong>Start<\/strong> menu:\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_1891\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1891\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1891\" src=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/cradle_security_code_configuration_utility_dialog-300x105.png\" alt=\"Dialog to enter new Security Code\" width=\"300\" height=\"105\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/cradle_security_code_configuration_utility_dialog-300x105.png 300w, https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/cradle_security_code_configuration_utility_dialog.png 652w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1891\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Security Code Configuration Utility<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>\n<li>Copy and paste the <em>Security Code<\/em> into the <strong>Security Code Configuration Utility<\/strong> dialog and select <strong>Decode<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>If the decoded details are correct, click <strong>Configure<\/strong> to apply the new <em>Security Code<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Once this is complete, you should reboot the machine, or (if not possible) restart the <em>Cradle<\/em> servers<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Installing Security Codes on Linux<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Shut down all <em>Cradle<\/em> tools and servers<\/li>\n<li>Run the following command, you can then restart the <em>CDS<\/em> and <em>CWS<\/em> servers:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>c_config -i<\/strong> <em>security-code<\/em><\/p>\n<p>where <em>security-code<\/em> is the 92 character <em>Security Code<\/em> issued by 3SL.
