Can I set Cradle so that I can receive alerts via email?<\/h2>\n

To be certain not to miss a modification or change to the project without even having to open Cradle to check, you can have alerts sent by email. This can be especially important when a user is ‘away from base’ or is in a role that doesn’t warrant them logging into Cradle daily.<\/p>\n

Setting up alerts to be sent via email<\/h4>\n

When setting up alerts in project setup you have three choices on how you and users will send\/receive user and system alerts:<\/p>\n

  1. Cradle message<\/strong> – Alerts<\/em> are dispatched as Cradle alerts<\/em> and appear in users’ lists of alerts<\/em>.<\/li>\n
  2. Email or message<\/strong> – Alerts<\/em> are dispatched as emails<\/em> (if available) to users, and as Cradle alerts<\/em> if not.<\/li>\n
  3. Both<\/strong> – Each alert is dispatched both as a Cradle alert<\/em> and an email<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Email<\/em> dispatch to a user is only possible if the user has an e-mail address in their User Profile<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    On Linux<\/em> emails are dispatched using the contents of the E-mail command attribute<\/em> that is set in User Preferences<\/em><\/p>\n

    On Windows\u00ae,\u00a0 emails are despatched by calling an extended MAPI client<\/em>. If an extended MAPI client<\/em> doesn’t exist, e-mails will be despatched using a MAPI compliant e-mail client<\/em> on the machine where the alert is being generated. If a MAPI compliant<\/em> mail client doesn’t exist, or cannot be launched, then e-mail despatch will fail.<\/p>\n

    Follow these three simple steps to set this up<\/h4>\n

    1. In Project Setup<\/strong> set alert delivery to be either “Email or message<\/em>” or “Both<\/em>”\n

    2. Ensure that users<\/em> in your project<\/em> have email addresses<\/em> set in their User Profile<\/em> so that Cradle knows where to send the email\n

    3. Have a valid mail<\/em> program and account setup on the client machine<\/em> which is using Cradle.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      It’s as simple as that, your users will now receive Cradle alerts via email<\/em>.<\/p>\n
