Using the ‘Publish Subject Items’ option<\/h2>\n

The Publish Subject Items<\/em> option in the Hierarchy Table can allow a user to stop items being published. This is\u00a0based on a link(s) existing or not. Users need to understand it\u00a0affects not only the type it is on but can affect\u00a0the Subject<\/em> type\u00a0as well.<\/p>\n

Publish Subject Items – Always<\/h2>\n

When the option is set to \u2018Always<\/strong>\u2019, this means that the target items will be published in the document. It does not matter if there are linked items below or not.<\/p>\n

Publish Subject Items – ‘Only if link exists’<\/h2>\n

When the option is set to \u2018Only if link exists<\/strong>\u2018 then the item type will only get published if the item linked to the source has the correct link type and is not excluded because of a filter.<\/p>\n

With \u2018Only if link exists<\/strong>\u2018 set on the ISSUE<\/em> item type and a filter:<\/p>\n

– Requirement (Source Item)<\/p>\n

– ISSUE (Target Item with filtering)
\n– RISK (Target Item)<\/p>\n

With the hierarchy set as above, if a Requirement<\/em> only had 1 ISSUE<\/em> linked to it and this link was removed due to filtering. This means the source item will not be published as there are no linked items to be output. If the Requirement<\/em> has 2 ISSUE<\/em>s linked to it and only one is removed through\u00a0filtering then the source item, the single linked ISSUE<\/em>\u00a0and any\u00a0linked RISK<\/em> items will be published .<\/p>\n

With \u2018Only if link exists<\/strong>\u2018 set on the ISSUE item type and no a filter:<\/p>\n

– Requirement<\/p>\n

– ISSUE
\n– RISK<\/p>\n

With the hierarchy set as above, the Requirement<\/em> will be published as well as both ISSUE<\/em>s and any linked RISK<\/em> items.<\/p>\n

Publish Subject Items – ‘Only if link does not exist’<\/h2>\n

When the option is set to \u2018Only if link does not exist\u2018 is set on a target item then the source item is only output if the target item is not linked.<\/p>\n

With \u2018Only if link does not exist<\/strong>\u2018 set on the RISK<\/em> item type:<\/p>\n

– Requirement<\/p>\n

– RISK<\/p>\n

Any Requirements<\/em> that are not linked to a RISK<\/em> or have the wrong link type will be published. Those Requirements<\/em> that are linked will not be published.<\/p>\n

Publish Subject Items – ‘Only if all links exist’<\/h2>\n

When the option is set to \u2018Only if all links exist<\/strong>\u2018 then the source item will be output if all linked items have the correct link type and are not removed through filtering.<\/p>\n

With \u2018Only if all links exis<\/strong>t \u2018 set on the ISSUE<\/em> item type and a filter:<\/p>\n

– Requirement<\/p>\n

– ISSUE (with filtering)
\n– RISK<\/p>\n

If the Requirement<\/em> has a single ISSUE<\/em> linked to it and the filtering removes this link then neither the Requirement<\/em> nor the ISSUE<\/em> will be published.<\/p>\n

When a Requirement<\/em> has two ISSUE<\/em>s linked to it and the filtering removes one link then neither the Requirement<\/em> nor the ISSUE<\/em>s will be published.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0the filtering removed from the ISSUE<\/em> item type\u00a0then the Requirement<\/em>, ISSUE<\/em>s and RISK<\/em> items will be published.<\/p>\n

Publish Subject Items – ‘Only if all link do not exist’<\/h2>\n

When the option is set to \u2018Only if all links do not exist<\/strong>\u2018 then the source item will be output as long as non of the linked items have the correct link type or at are removed through filtering.<\/p>\n

With \u2018Only if all links do not exist<\/strong> \u2018 set on the ISSUE<\/em> item type and a filter:<\/p>\n

– Requirement<\/p>\n

– RISK<\/p>\n

If a Requirement<\/em> has a RISK<\/em> linked in the right way then the source item will not be output. If a Requirement<\/em> has either no linked RISK<\/em> items or the link type is wrong then the source item will be output.<\/p>\n
