You can think of these as phases, activities or tasks.<\/p>\n<p>Creating a phase hierarchy is the task of a Project Administrator who needs <strong>PROJECT<\/strong> privilege and is created in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/cradle\/help\/7.7\/#projectsetup\/other\/projectphases.htm\">Project Setup<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Each element of a phase can run an operation in an organised structure which is shown by expanding folders such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Running saved queries<\/li>\n<li>Opening an item\/set of items<\/li>\n<li>Expanding a tree<\/li>\n<li>Running a matrix<\/li>\n<li>Running a metric<\/li>\n<li>Producing a report<\/li>\n<li>Producing a graph<\/li>\n<li>Producing a draft document (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/cradle\/help\/7.7\/#documentpublisher\/other\/overview.htm\">Document Publisher<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Executing an external command<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8113\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8113\" style=\"width: 606px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/phase_hierarchy.png\" alt=\"Phase Hierarchy\" width=\"606\" height=\"482\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/phase_hierarchy.png 606w, https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/phase_hierarchy-300x239.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 606px) 100vw, 606px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8113\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Defined Phase Hierarchy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>These phase operations are for all users of the project. However, you can restrict operations to a particular team or a particular skill:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8115\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8115\" style=\"width: 588px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8115\" src=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/phase_hierarchy_skill.png\" alt=\"Phase hierarchy showing skill\" width=\"588\" height=\"245\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/phase_hierarchy_skill.png 588w, https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/phase_hierarchy_skill-300x125.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 588px) 100vw, 588px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8115\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Phase hierarchy showing skill<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The phase hierarchy is also used in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/cradle\/help\/7.7\/#webaccess\/other\/overview.htm\">Web Access<\/a> tool.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that the phase hierarchy feature is not available in single-user products.<\/p>\n<h2>Start Pages<\/h2>\n<p>Whereas a phase hierarchy defines the whole process and the activities to be performed, start pages could help to automate the steps to perform each activity for a particular user or set of users.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/cradle\/help\/7.7\/#titlepages\/start_pages.htm\">Start pages<\/a> also allow you to open a specific WorkBench dialog or run a tool such as Document Loader that will simplify usage considerably as your users would have all relevant operations in an organised page without having to navigate through all of the menus, ribbons and dialogs.<\/p>\n<p>These are organised in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Labels<\/li>\n<li>Headings<\/li>\n<li>Actions \/ multiple actions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can also add images to your start page which can be very useful in customising the interface for your project:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8116\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8116\" style=\"width: 608px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8116\" src=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/start_page.png\" alt=\"Start page\" width=\"608\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/start_page.png 608w, https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/start_page-300x202.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 608px) 100vw, 608px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8116\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Example Start Page<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Start pages can also allow you to run multiple operations with a single click.<\/p>\n<p>You can define multiple start pages for a specific set of tasks and for multiple sets of users.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8117\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8117\" style=\"width: 486px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8117\" src=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/start_page_details.png\" alt=\"Start Page Details option\" width=\"486\" height=\"130\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/start_page_details.png 486w, https:\/\/www.threesl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/start_page_details-300x80.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 486px) 100vw, 486px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8117\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Start Page Details option<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Summary<\/h2>\n<p>The phase hierarchy and start pages allow you to simplify the user experience of WorkBench.<\/p>\n<p>The phase hierarchy defines a set of operations in folders which can be filtered for specific sets of users. This feature is not available in single-user products.<\/p>\n<p>Start pages can be more personal and will quickly allow you to complete a task or create an output without having to navigate the
