We are pleased to announce that we released Cradle-7.1 on 1st April 2016 after a very successful period of Beta testing. The major new capability in the 7.1 release is support for SysML. It also adds the ability to publish from web UIs, a new method to generate section and sub-sections in Document Publisher templates, the ability to submit many types of information into the CM system at the same time, the ability to return hierarchies of information from queries, considerable extensions to Hierarchy Diagrams, performance improvements for queries based on the linkage of items to other items, and a variety of smaller extensions and improvements.
The 7.1 release drops support for Windows Vista, and adds support for Windows 10 and Office 2016 (32-bit and 64-bit), including Office365. We continue to support any Linux variant with a kernel version of 2.6.32 or later, essentially any Linux released in the past 3+ years, including any Linux with version 2.6.32 or later kernel, including Debian (version 4 or later), Fedora (RedHat) Core 1, 2 and 3, Tau Linux release 1, RedHat Enterprise 5 and later, Ubuntu 10 and later, CentOS 6.0 and later, SuSE 10/11 and later.
Existing Cradle-7.0 Security Codes will not work with Cradle-7.1. You must request a new Security Code from 3SL. All users with SYS licences will automatically receive the SysML support, in addition to the existing modelling notations enabled in your SYS licences.
New Security Codes will be supplied to Cradle Enterprise users if you have an active maintenance agreement. If you have Cradle Enterprise but your maintenance has lapsed, please contact us and we will explain how you can reactivate your maintenance and get Cradle-7.1 and SysML.
Users of single-user Cradle-RM and SE systems can upgrade to Cradle-7.1 by purchasing a new system, when a 20% discount will be offered, please contact us for details.
3SL presented at this year’s SEDC conference March 31st to April 2nd in the Washington DC area. This regional INCOSE conference featured impressive speakers from government and industry. The 3SL tutorial sessions were well attended and very well received. We would like to thank everyone who attended for their very kind and complimentary remarks!
3SL will be attending the INCOSE International Symposium. If you are able to travel to Edinburgh, we will be delighted to meet you during the event! More details will be provided later.
The prices of all single-user Cradle-RM and Cradle-SE products will increase by £50, €70 and $80 (and corresponding amounts in other currencies) from 1st May 2016. We will honour all existing quotations that are valid after this date. If you are planning to buy a single-user Cradle system, please do it soon to avoid the price increase!
All other prices, including prices for Cradle Enterprise modules, are not affected by this change. In particular, the price of the SYS (system modelling) licence is not being increased. This means that SysML support is being added at no extra cost.
We are extending the range of white papers available through our website, to include discussions of the purpose, role, content, organisation and structure and Cradle implementation of common requirements management and systems engineering concepts. Look for additions in the White Papers section of our website here, and a new Technical Notes section in the Resources area of our website in the coming weeks.
If you have any topics that you would like to see included in a white paper or, for more detailed Cradle topics, as a Technical Note, please let us know!
