There are bugs in the Acrobat XI and Acrobat X releases that affect Cradle’s ability to use the DDE interface to PDF documents. Adobe Systems released version 11 of their Acrobat products on 15th October 2013 and they released the latest version 11.0.03 on 14th May 2013. The original release of version 10 was in November 2010 and version 10.1 was released on 14th June 2011.
In the version 11 release, Adobe Systems introduced a bug in the registry keys for the DDE commands that provide the interface into Acrobat and Acrobat Reader that applications can use to reference specific pages and sections of documents. The effect of these bugs are that links from Cradle into specific pages or specific areas in pages in PDF files will not work.
In the version 10 release, Adobe Systems changed the DDE commands that an external application can use, and Cradle does use, to move to a specific position in a specific page of a PDF document. Unfortunately, errors within Acrobat 10 forced corrections to this new mechanism, which were released as part of Acrobat 10.1. These bugs affect all applications, including Cradle, using Acrobat to open PDF files.
