Platforms

Cradle is a client-server product that contains client and server components. All Cradle components support Windows and Linux, as defined below. You can install Cradle clients and servers on any combination of platforms. You can install Cradle onto physical or virtual servers and desktops. You can copy data from Linux to Windows and vice versa; the format of all Cradle data, including Project Databases (PDBs), are identical on Linux and Windows systems.

Any Linux with a version 2.6.32 or later kernel, examples of supported versions are:

  • Debian 6 or later
  • RedHat Enterprise 6 and later
  • Ubuntu release 10.04 and later
  • CentOS release 6.0 and later
  • Oracle 6 and later

To install the X11 FreeType-based font drawing library by either:

  • sudo yum install libXft - for Redhat Enterprise Linux and CentOS
  • sudo apt-get install libxft2 - for Debian-based systems

To install the required ODBC libraries you can use your Linux distribution package manager. For example:

  • sudo yum install unixODBC - for Redhat Enterprise Linux and CentOS
  • sudo apt-get install unixodbc - for Debian-based systems

unixODBC v2.3.7 is supplied with most of the latest versions of Linux. Some earlier versions of Linux may not include this version of unixODBC. If you are running on an earlier Linux version that does not include unixODBC v2.3.7 you can download and build it from https://www.unixodbc.org.

Also, tar version 1.22 or later is required for its support of long pathnames.

The Cradle download file contains both 32‐bit and 64‐bit distributions. The installer will automatically choose the distribution to match your Windows and Office installations. However, if you have 64‐bit Windows and 32‐bit Office, then you must choose the 32‐bit Cradle distribution, or Cradle's support for Office will not be installed.

The supported versions, and the minimum service pack (SP) needed, are:

  • Windows 8.1, 32‐bit and 64‐bit
  • Windows 10, 32‐bit and 64‐bit
  • Windows 11 64‐bit
  • Windows Server 2012 R2, 64‐bit
  • Windows Server 2016 64-bit
  • Windows Server 2019 64-bit

The supported versions, and the minimum service pack (SP) needed, are:

  • 2010 with SP2 or later, 32‐bit and 64‐bit

Cradle will only integrate with Microsoft Office on Windows. Cradle has integrations with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project.
